I have been on this wesite in vain to find a double bass teacher in the Gloucestershire area. Some numbers are unobtainable;

some of people who answered my calls said their details were out of date.

Is there any drive to get the website owners/administrators to update it?

Contact the web admin team about it! I did this when someone I knew of was still advertising themselves as teaching the job I had taken over and they sorted it out very quickly.

Yes, they do send me a reminder, I think it's every year, and I either make changes or confirm my details are still correct. Of course, I can still say something is correct even if it isn't (no law against it), but at least from the point of view of the website, I can confirm they do try to keep things up to date.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble finding a teacher. It's worth persisting through other channels (ESTA, music shops, local universities/colleges, orchestra's, etc) as some teachers don't want to advertise their numbers too widely. But may still accept more persistent students who seek them out.

I'd start by contacting your nearest amateur orchestra, someone is bound to know a double bass teacher

try www.amateurorchestras.org.uk

Have you tried the ISM? You can postcode search for a teacher.
