Ugh, I cannot stand Wayne Marshall, and have heard him live two or three times. He plays a lot of stuff too fast. He murders Messaien's 'Transports de Joie' from 'Ascension' and Alain's 'Litanies'
For Bach I like Ian Bowyer or Ton Koopman, for Messaien Jennifer Bate, but Simob Preston is a good allrounder.
Yes, I find KEVIN Bowyer's Bach performances (on the Nimbus CD label) very persuasive, as are Ton Koopman's for Teldec. I particularly enjoy Koopman's ornamentations.
I too dislike Wayne Marshall. not to keen on his playing technique (he can play things a bit faster than necessary) and i hear he is a bit 'full of himself' I used to work at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester (where he is resident organist with the Halle) and a few of my colleagues claimed to have had an earful from him over small pathetic things.
Not heard Kevin Bowyer actually playing the organ, but I dont like what he has written. I've just bought a book of scores he wrote in a Gregorian style. Well, the cover says Gregorian, the notes on the page say 20th Century to me

Simon Preston seems to have done everything very well

I do like the stuff of his that i've heard, especially Elgars Imperial March
