Just wondered. Mine would have to be John Scott Whitely, I was amazed at his playing when they filmed him playing the Bach organ suites. Simon Preston is pretty good too.

What about the rest of you?

To be fair, I haven't heard many play. I have a CD of various Bach stuff, played by Karl Richter, and I like that. smile.gif

Husband sang in a performance of the Janacek Glagolitic Mass a few years ago, and Wayne Marshall played the organ part.

I'm not sure I know enough about organing to be able to say "X is my favourite performer", but the ones mentioned so far seem OK to me.

I met Simon Preston a few weeks ago at the Winchester Cathedral concert that he was playing in. It was great as I got in free and also had a chat with him afterwards. He was very charming and played a really interesting programme. However I preferred the concert my own teacher, Sarah Baldock, did a few weeks later in the same concert series. All organists are so different that I think my opinion varies quite a lot.

Prof. Ian Tracey at Liverpool (Anglican) Cathedral is superb. Such control and technique. Fab.

I heard him in concert with Natalie Clein (cellist) last week. They played some pieces together and he also did a couple of solos. He's great on the organ and the piano.

Sorry, the first line was supposed to be in quotes. I was replying to G.C.
I still haven't got the hang of quotes.
