We had a thread like this about five years ago, and it was the source of some amusement. The idea is that you write a limerick about the person who posted before you.

To get it going, here was my offering based on Stetenorve:-

 

A tenor who sings ever highter,

In the town of the crooked spire,

Fell out of a boat,

Into a moat,

And now just gurgles in choir.

 

Now someone has to do one about me  etc etc

An organist, by name F sharp minor

Met a major when sat in a diner

They called for some beer

To give them good cheer

And to help them sing even finer.

The lady above is called Dot

A name she dislikes quite a lot

I use it to tease her

Which doesn't quite please her

Best go before I get shot.

Daisychain uses her voice,

Which I think is a very good choice,

Plays piano as well

And what's more (you can tell)

Any Beethoven makes her rejoice.

She's taking a different tack
from the usual performing in black.
(Quite unlike me,
she can hit a top C)
the PINK! frock is making a comeback.

Corenfa is sounding her horn,

(she's been at it nigh since she was born).

Its nice shiny bell -

it pleases her well,

so she plays through the night until dawn.

 

(Can I do another verse?)

 

Her neighbours, Robert and Jade

aren't pleased with this night serenade.

They sought our her horn - 

Threw it onto the lawn,

And Corenfa, from playing it, forbade.

Channelling Flanders & Swann... I've lost my horn, I know I was playing it yesterday. I've lost my horn, lost my horn, found my horn... gone. 

 

(Since this isn't a limerick, the previous poster isn't me.. it's Misterioso so any limerickers, that's the target)

She comes from the far Western Isles,

Her picture is all wreathed in smiles,

And hey diddle diddle

She plays on the fiddle

And every sheep it beguiles

Our Linda stands out from the crowd

She’s haughty and terribly proud

When I asked her say

How best I should play

She just said “F F” for awfully LOUD

The harvest at last was gathered in,

And with it a Harvest Mouse.

The Dozy Hen cackled with glee

And invited it into the house.

 

"An eight octave Steinway piano

Will do very well for a nest

Of wood chips, eggshells and piano felt.

We birds always know what is best"

so sorry - I'm not a poet, but this thread has taken on a different meaning because I'm currently in Limerick ... On holiday!

Well thats not actually a Limerick in the usual format Jim, but a good effort. Now someone has to do one about you.

Our Jim, who was born in Yorks

And certainly not in Warks

In Notts he was taught

To play a Viola he bought

But now only plays on the Forks

Cried a promising young organist from Wirral,

"I can play the sonata but can't read the toccata

Since the candles have been eaten by a squirrel".
