Drier than forecast yesterday, and some unexpected sun in the afternoon.

Very wet and windy this morning - exactly as forecast.

Thanks F#minor. Your weather comments are very helpful. We're off to (sunny) Southport for mother-in-law's funeral later this week. I'll put in my winter woollies and various waterproofs I think.

I'm afraid it turned nasty in the afternoon, almost continuous rain !   Sorry to hear about mother in law.  Funerals seem even worse when weather is bad -  maybe it will improve for later in the week   (I have a small weather station in my back garden).  We looked after my M-i-L here for her last 5 years (passed 2015) with Alzheimers, only expected to have her for a year or so.  She lived in East Suffolk, too far away for us to be visiting regularly.

Glorious sunshine, although a definite autumnal chill in the air.

Dull and depressing this morning, then as I decided to get out for an exercise walk about an hour ago, it started to rain , and is still doing so.   Feels quite cool in moderate SW breeze too, actually 15.9 deg C just now, slightly warmer than yesterday reached.   Pressure rose to 1012mb earlier but has now fallen to 1008.8mB.

There were some dark clouds earlier, and clearly had been some recent rain, but mainly blue sky and sun now with a few white clouds.  Still a good westerly breze, and temperature is only 12.6 deg C (expecting max 15 deg C). Pressure fell during night but now rising again 1004.6 mB

Raining heavily first thing and continued till mid morning when the sky brightened and we were left with white clouds and sunny spells. BUT it became very windy.  Its about 40mph from NW and Ive had to go out into the garden to stand some blown over pots, some quite large, and thats on the lee side of the house. Temperature is 14.2 deg C, and pressure now risen 997 mB earlier this morning to 1001.8mB now. Wind expected to drop as we move into evening.
