Oh my goodness, just received an email saying that from January we will be able to book exam appointments online. And receive exam results within a week of the actual exam. This seems too good to be true - am I dreaming?!

So have I - that certainly has changed things. Most of my pupils choose trinity, purely because they need to book specific dates. They now have a choice of exam board, and can choose which pieces they prefer!

First come first served? I suppose certain dates and venues are going to get booked quickest, but at least if what you ask for isn't available you'll know immediately, instead of biting your nails for a few weeks ...

Finally they enter the 21st century! Decisions on entries will need to be made earlier by us so that we get the best choice of dates, no more leaving it til the closing date anymore! Really good move by abrsm, let's hope it's been heavily tested and doesn't collapse under the weight of entries on day one of the booking period!

I just got the email, and came straight on here to share the good news!  I had the same thought as Catey that I won't be able to leave it til the closing date any more, but I think it will do me good to be more organised.

 

I do hope it's a good as it promises to be.

The results within a week will undoubtedly be the result of examiners using iPads for marksheets, which will be transmitted to the Board same day. I think I heard that the iPad software will check the addition of marks, and that the maximum mark has not been exceeded, so presumably they hope that there will be fewer marksheets to have to send back to examiners for correction.

 I think it does. Our rep told me that  from 2020 all examiners will use a pad - though  I don't know if this is just UK  or if it applies to all countries. I haven't received any info  about on line booking and I don't think it will be feasible for European tours.

I was wondering about Europe, and whether it would be any improvement for you and others !
