I'd imagine this question is asked half a hundred times, but I'm in the beginnings of preparing for the DipABRSM exam and I was wondering if I could garner some thoughts on my choice of programme.

  • Beethoven Sonata in C minor Op. 10 No. 1
  • Liszts Petrarch Sonnet 104
  • Copland The Cat and the Mouse
  • Bach Prelude & Fugue no.11 in F, BWV 880

Should leave me comfortably within the 35 minute mark, I'm just wondering if it's contrasting enough

That looks fine to me, I played that Bach for ALCM back in 1963 ! (But Beethoven Op 10 No2)    Personally I'd do Bach first then Beethoven Liszt and Copland.

I'm not a pianist so don't know those pieces, but it certainly looks varied enough!

Don't forget to prepare an answer to how you chose them and how they fit together in the programme, that's always a question in the viva
