Well it was inevitable after the decreasing number of posts.  As one of the longest standing members and a regular contributor (nearly 20,000 posts)  , I am sorry this has happened, but I hope the new forum will thrive and attract more posters. As I am not now a teacher, I may not rejoin, but wish all the friends I have made on here, the very best of luck for the future.

Very sad. I've met so many people through this Forum, and, although I don't post that much nowadays I still read regularly. The recorder thread in particular is still going strong and is a mini-community in its own right.

I'm sure the teachers will keep their end up in the new location, but as I've now retired it's probably not for me. :(

Just noticed I'm coming up to my 19th anniversary. Sorry not to make twenty.

It's a shame the announcement doesn't mention folks other than teachers. This forum has been so welcoming and generous to learners like me. I have learned so much and will miss it very much. Perhaps the 'community space' will include us. If it does, I hope to contribute. If not, well, thank you everyone for your help and friendship.

I am in touch with a lot of you IRL, but am happy to pass my email address to any trustworthy souls who wish to remain in touch with me.

A shame the forum fell a year short of its 20th birthday, but let’s face it, it’s not a surprise.

I’ll continue to look at direct messages until Sunday, after which, it’s over and out.

Thank you for the past nearly 17 years! :)

….. Chocolate dog,  Violinia, jod,  oboist,  Mr bouffant  (how could I forget him!) etc etc.

I agree with DOC’s point about folk other than teachers.  I felt it was unfortunate that the original rather terse statement posted earlier this morning mentioned only teachers, and not other forum users.

I am still in regular touch with Holz Gedeckt  (an FB friend) , though he has a few health problems so not active musically much now . It was when he gave a recital at Liverpool Cathedral that we met. 2009 ish I think.

I don't suppose all the amazingly interesting and useful threads will be viewable as an archive or something? So much knowledge and experience has been shared here. Feeling sad.

It's unlikely that I would be playing the clarinet which appears to suit me better than piano.
There are so many musical opportunities that I have had that would most likely not have happened without katyjay's idea of adult Learners events which gave me the confidence to play to an audience. My musical growth definitely got a huge boost from those beginnings.

I am also still in touch with Eldatom (again as an FB friend). She does little music now (we met on a course at Procorda about 2014) but has published 3 novels and books of poetry.
