Yippee! Distant relative actually wants the trillion old family photos which are clogging up the loft. :woot:

Perhaps clutter is just objects in the wrong place... like weeds? :)

One of my best decluttering actions was to throw away old photographs of myself. I had kept telling myself that even though I didn't like them, one day I might be glad to have them. It was so freeing to decide that no, I really didn't like them and I didn't want to be reminded of those times.

That said, I need to do another serious decluttering because my house us just too tiny. The trouble is I have hobbies and for these I need stuff. (I've been buying way too much yarn lately, for instance.)

In which case I have an awful lot ot 'weeds'.

Yesterday my helpful neighbour brought round his van/lorry and loaded it with loads of 'my' stuff from the cellar for the tip. Now I can actually see the shelving where the tools and things are.  Odd that some folk, like my late husband, feel very content when they get rid of a load, whereas it inspires me to see what else needs to go.

Do they realise that it's a trillion though, and not just a box or two?

I was hoping it would be the whole trillion, but when I grabbed the stuff for their branch of the family, I realised that it is only about 10% of the total trillion photos I have. :( Still, it's going in the post to Devon first thing tomorrow morning. :)

Exactly. Judging by the family trees I've looked at, people don't much care for veracity in any case. They'd be delighted to have some photos...

I've been thinking about this. If all else fails, can't you reframe and see them as an asset? You could mount them on card and use them as greetings cards/postcards for the rest of your relatives. That'll learn 'em as Badger would say.

 I wish I had that many friends and relatives!

Does anyone know if old unfranked postage stamps are still valid, including ones which are worth 12 and a half pence etc? I could open my own post office here!

I'm also auctioning stuff for the first time ever - feel free to share tips and stories! :)

They are, but you have to combine them to make-up current postage rates. NVI (non-value indicator) stamps that just say "1st class" or "2nd class" never expire and can be used at any time if un-franked.

Headway takes and sells old videos. I was pleasantly surprised. :)

I don't trust the bag through the door lot - we are always getting bags through the door - 2 per week on average - how many clothes do they think I buy?

Same here. And on top of that if I do put stuff out in the bag they never collect it. (The one time they did collect it they also took the little shelf I'd put it on and it was quite a hassle to get that back.)
