Hi all,

 

I've figured out that practical exams are unlikely to be available any time soon, so I'm now looking at doing a Performance Grade 3 Piano.

 

I've got hold of the 2021/22 Grade 3 pieces. Am I right in saying I can also play the 2019/20 pieces as well for the Performance exam up until 31st December 2021?

 

And is it the case I can mix and match as long as I have one from A, B, C and a fourth piece? e.g. two from 2019/20 and two from 21/22?

 

On a side note I'm a bit disappointed by the Practicals not being availabl!. I don't like sight-reading and scales and I was sort of relying on the Practical Syllabus forcing me to practice them!

I think you can use the 2019 syllabus all this year but I think you have to choose your A B and C pieces from the same syllabus but your own choice could come from any syllabus. I am hoping that live exams will be taking place in the Summer as I much prefer them to Performance exams.

Hey, as far as I know, you have to pick A B and C from the same syllabus but your own choice can be from either syllabus or non-exam either. I did Grade 6 a few months ago and my own choice was Chopin's Waltz in F minor which I don't think was ever tested by ABRSM in any curriculum.

 

Regarding the other skills, I think you just have to practice them. Maybe start tracking the time spend on them every day/week (wether in app or on a piece of paper). That helped me. And knowing the better you get at them, the better your playing will be
