Feeling happy and wanted to share this. Did Grade 6 sax today and the examiner was so nice and friendly. Makes a big difference.
Anyway- I don't know if this will help others but here's how I handled the nerves. I suffer with really bad panic attacks at the best of times and they can strike at any time. I was getting a bit nervous today waiting for the exam and I couldn't sleep last night but I gave myself a good talking to. I asked myself "What is the very worst that can happen?" The answer of course is that I could completely mess up the pieces and fail. Then I thought "So what if I fail? I'll just re-apply and do it again". I also told myself that the important thing to remember here was to enjoy the music because if I'm enjoying it the examiner will too. I also put things in perspective by saying to myself that I'd rather be doing this than:
a. doing a driving test
b. attending a job interview
c. doing an audition for X Factor because if I mess up here it will be on thousands of repeats of "Worst X Factor Auditions" not to mention You Tube!
It did the trick and I ended up really enjoying it :0)
