To mt great chagrin i wasn't able to watch the England v USA match. I suppose the Americans are going to be champions again.

In October 1970 my father took me to see Portsmouth draw 1-1 against Leyton Orient as a warning not to waste time watching football matches.

Third place play off. England women are playing a load of rubbish, and are a goal down after 10 mins !. Why is Steph Haughton in the team, she missed a penalty in last match and just now gifted a goal to the Swedes. They can't get out of their own half at the moment.
And five minutes later , its 2 - 0 to the Swedes ! Could be 5 - 0 by half time
Later, well they made it 1 - 2, and had an equaliser disallowed for a handball by Ellen White. But they are improving now.
I will have to switch off shortly. Back on line later.

Right, well that's that. America wins again and because of a rather hectic end of term I missed several matches I xanted to watch! Oh well, now on to the Tour de France. The women's tour doesn't, of course, get much of a look in - but one day .........

I will be perfectly happy if Tranmere can manage somewhere mid table in League 1 after two successive promotions. Pity James Norwood has gone to Ipswich, so they will have to rely on Connor Jennings to net a few goals.

Harry Maguire is now the most expensive defender as he joins Man Utd for £80m!
Meanwhile, at Villa, for the tiny sum of £11m, they have just signed a Marvelous player. I can imagine when he scores his first goal the commentator will say, "What a marvelous goal from Marvelous Nakamba"! I'm sure he will be a Success... oh yes, that's the name of a Watford player as well...
Trying to think of some other good football player names that have played in the Premier League - Papa Bouba Diop is one example...

There was a Norwegian called As (A has a circle on top of it, cant find the character in an alternative set ) commentators called him '####', but its should be more like 'Oss'

Today's of course is going to be an emotional day for Orient fans and players as we play our first competitive match since the passing of Justin Edinburgh. Hopefully we will do ourselves proud and get a win just for him...

Afternoon out tomorrow. Going to watch Liverpool FC (boo hiss) against Man City (no feelings either way). Am going to have to be diplomatic - OH, BiL and SiL are all enthusiastic Liverpool supporters. I'm going to be sociable.

No good for Tranmere, losing 2 - 3 at home to Rochdale in their first Div 1 match. Doesn't bode well.

Orient beat Cheltenham 1-0, and it was fitting that Josh Wright - the last player signed by Edinburgh - scored the winning goal.
Not so good for Reading as they lost at home to Sheff Wed and immediately slip to the foot of the table...
