I have a few clarinet students due to sit their Grade 3 and Grade 4 exams later this year and I wondered if the examiner will state the range of the arpeggio they wish the student to play, as some are 12ths and some are 2 octaves?

I've had flute and recorder players whose scales are also 12ths or 8ves and the examiners have never stated the range. They have just asked for the key and said the scale is to be played tongued or not   and I think it's just up to the candidate to know which scales are which range - which they will do as that is how they will have learnt them.
