I've seen a couple of very old threads about this sort of thing and I hope you'll forgive me if I post a new one in order that I can find it again!

I'm searching around for a 1980 or possibly 1981 Grade 5 Pianoforte AB book to use with students - I used that particular book myself many years ago for finger practice and because I loved one or two of the pieces (sadly, I'm old enough to have done Grade 5 a good deal earlier than this!) in it but I'll be blowed if I can remember what they were!  I'm sure one was a C P E Bach and another was a Romanian or Hungarian folk dance type of piece and may have been by Bartok but it isn't any of the Bartok that I can find on IMSLP.

I just wondered if anyone out there in cyberland still had either of these - I'm not totally sure on the year but it's one of the above!  Someone very kindly found me the 1979 one's on Amazon which are here http://www.amazon.co...de 5 piano 1979  if anyone's interested but that's definitely not the right year.

No worries if no one has one, just thought I'd give it a go.

Thanks so much.   :)

I have both these books, and it's the 1981 book you are looking for, I think.
The contents are as follows:
J S Bach Prelude in D BWV 936
Haydn Sonata in G Hob XV1 / 27 Minuet and Trio
Szymanowski Krakowiak
Bernard Stevens Syncopation

C P E Bach Presto in C minor
Hummel Scherzo in A
Bartok Hungarian Folksong
Anthony Hedges Concert piece.

Sorry - I'm afraid I'm not looking to sell these books. But hopes this helps to confirm the one you are looking for.

Oh wow, this is amazing!!   :D

Thank you SO SO SO much!  This has been driving me nuts for ages!  Yes!!   These are the pieces.  I can now do a proper search for them.

I really am so grateful to you.

:-)

Yes, I remembered the brown cover oddly!  It's no problem, I don't really need the score as I just found it on You Tube, played it through and am now playing it here myself!  It was the Presto that had been driving me nuts, you have no idea how MUCH C P E Bach I've looked through (but, hey, came across some jolly nice other things along the way!)

Thanks so much.  Very happy me!  :-)

:D  and also  :hurrah: !!   Yes, amazing isn't it, it took MaggieMay about ten minutes to find the entire list and I've been playing the Bach this evening!   Thank you for the original links though, it just goes to prove that I'm a totally rubbish Amazon searcher as I couldn't find them at all!

If anyone wants to try it, I found it on imslp but it's listed as Presto in E flat, H230

Not at all - I found the list because I happened to have the book in a cupboard about four feet away! :-)

I wonder why it's listed as in E flat though. *scratches head*

The note at the foot of the page in the '81 AB book states that it's no 3 of CPE B's second collection of Kurze und Leichte Klavierstucke, published in 1768.

Great piece - thanks Solfeggietto for starting the thread on it!
