Come on ladies - let's see some support for the Women's World Cup Football. We have a football thread in the Cafe but it does seem to be dominated by the gentlemen of the forum.

Unfortunately as I am not interested in football played by people of any gender, I am unable to assist... Maybe if there was football played by cats?

Yes they are. They never want to pass the ball to anyone else!

Oh well, I'll just have to go on crying in the wilderness!

Or, perhaps, by women dressed as cats?  Then I might develop an interest.

I enjoy our American football (more like your rugby (?) - and why do we call it football when it's mostly played with hands?) played at the college level, but soccer (what we call your football) never really made much sense to me as a spectator sport.

I have to say that I've never 'got' American football. It's barely started before it stops again. I love a football match though.

Well I'm very pleased that the English ladies won yesterday (or whenever the match was played over the weekend).  I have tried to join in with the conversation on the football thread periodically, but as I support Watford the gents on that thread are not keen on talking to me. So I gave up.

Or if they're like mine, they sit and stare at the ball as it rolls past.

Slinky-cat adores pingpong balls.  There are a couple of dozen of them in the living room ... mostly under things.  Any time we move a piece of furniture, we retrieve a half dozen or so, she has an absolutely joyous five minutes, and they are lost again.  Maybe I should put her in the bath with them (or perhaps not.  She had a habit a few years back of putting mice in the bath - I think for a similar reason, she could play with them but not lose them.)

hmm being a native Scouser, I do confuse my compatriots since I absolutely loathe, abhor, and detest football... This confuses people... especially when I was a youngster...

Mine puts her toy mice next to or in her food bowl. I guess she likes to keep the important things together. And she's obsessed with removing the train ticket that's under a chair leg

My rabbit likes to play with a ball - if you kick it towards him, he pushed it back with his nose. I think a football might be a bit big though!

Just heard a seal singing on the radio. Apparently they can be taught to sing tunes like Star Wars and Old Macdonald. The rendition I heard was a few notes of Twinkle twinkle, not entirely accurate but no worse than some of my grade 1 aural candidates!
