Hey
I have my G8 cello soon, and I was wondering wether any of you people have any good suggestions for pieces, to play afterward.
I would kindof like a long term project, maybe a concerto, and I dont want to move straight on to diploma, as I would like some time just on repetoire, without ANY exam pressure. (other than school. sad.gif ergh!! )

One of my favourite CDs is Jacqueline Du Pre playing the Haydn Cello concerto, but I don't know how easy that is.

Play the Elgar Cello Concerto! It's one of the most beautiful cello works ever written (in my opinion anyway).

If you have time, play the Faure Elegie as well. *sniff* my friend won a competition playing that... the whole room was in tears!!

Brahms second sonata for piano and 'cello (yes, he named it that way round) is a super piece. When I want to remind myself how stupid Hugo Wolf was when he said, "Brahms never exults", I think of Dupré and Barenboim playing this (CDM 7 63298 2).
