Obviously not an organ topic, but one which you organists might have a view on. What is your favourite chant? We did one on Sunday by Alcock in A (for Psalm 91) which was really unusual in some of its harmonic progressions. Another favourite of mine is (Freddie) Flintoft - in the F minor version.

If I had a scanner, I could put them on here. Oh well!

Aah - several favourites. Unfortunately no psalter to hand (other than a plainsong one biggrin.gif !) so may have to resort to 'that one in F+ / D minor that starts with three As and modulates to C+ at the third quarter' eg.

I have the three Kings Psalm LPs dating from the ? 80s ? and there are some cracking chants on those discs.

We don't have chant as it's Methodist, but my favourites from what I've heard and sung elsewhere are How in Ab and Lang in F# minor.

Argh, I too don't have a chant book to hand. I'll have to borrow one, and type up the one i'm thinking. There are some absolutely gorgeous chants that just make the hairs stand on the back of my neck.
The only thing I can think of at the moment are the chants used in Bairstows 'The Lamentation'. Mmmmm

We did it at Easter this year, and I think it may become a regular Easter thing. The remember hearing the first chant of it for the first time and thinking "that's odd" but very quickly fell in love with it. I think that the chants fit the words absolutely perfectly, and the colouring is amazing on verses like "All they that go by clap their hands at her!" Oooo the hairs on my neck stand up thinking about it. Oh yes, it's on my phone too biggrin.gif Presses play....
