Full Version: Solo Or Duet Piano Stool?

hello_cello
Well, with an upcoming birthday, ive been asked what i want. I already have an old edwardian piano stool, which although is nice, is too high for me to use when playing (this wont be going in the trash, it will go in my room tongue.gif.) But im asking for an adjustable, my only requirment is its Black and under £100.
So i have found, and like the look of this from Gear4Music

But i then looked further down, and the duet version is only £20 more

So what do you suggest i go for?
The duet bench would be good for if ever i have friends over, and they want to play duets or what ever, and also, my friends and i often teach each other songs etc, so would it be a good idea? Looking also into the long run, if i teach piano it would also be a worthy investment?

What do you forumites think?

Seems like you've already talked yourself into getting the duet stool! I would go for that one smile.gif

Are there any big disadvantages?

You might run out of friends!! laugh.gif laugh.gif wink.gif

I don't see why there should be. Unless one of your friends needs the stool raised higher than you do (or indeed needs it lower). Can you raise the seats individually?

I have a duet piano stool and, while it's only ever been used for its proper purpose a couple of times, its really useful for perching a laptop on if I ever want to record myself, dumping all kinds of stuff on, or somewhere for the cat to sleep biggrin.gif It also has twice as much storage space inside as a normal stool, but then it sounds like yours would be full of the adjusting mechanism, so thats probably not relavent.

well, the duet stool it is!

I think you'll be glad you chose the duet stool.

I bought a double stool 25 years ago when I bought my piano, and I've never regretted it. It was great when the kids were learning, and later I used to play duets with a friend. It was also very useful for computer games - my son and two friends could sit on it in front of the Nintendo!
