I have looked through this 'pull out' in Saturday's edition of the Guardian (Observer also). It's abstracted in parts from Pam Wedgwood's "It's Never Too Late To Play The Piano". I didn't think much of it, but there is a nice contribution from Jools Holland

No, I didn't think much of it either, but the interviews with Jools et al were quite interesting to read. I think anyone seriously considering taking up the piano would be better off buying a proper book! But I guess the Guardian's supplement might be useful intially.

I couldn't see the point of it - almost nothing in it to interest anyone who already plays and not musch for someone who doesn't.

I agree. I get the Guardian on Saturday anyway, but didn't bother to buy the Observer in order to get part 2. I think it was trying to be all things to all people - and failed.

The guide is available online - Guardian piano guide

They seem to have got their timing wrong, as yesterday they published an invitation to the BBC pianothon and stated that it was open for applications, although applications had already closed.

I don't think it was that bad at all - at least not the version on the web. For example there is quite a nice terse summary of the contributions of a selection of major keyboard composers from the Renaissance to the mid 20th Century.

Perhaps the printed version was not so good?

I missed that when I first looked at the site and it ties in nicely with my current project - thanks!
