Does anyone think its possible to fit both Liszts Benediction de Dieu dans la solitude and Mozarts rondo in a minor k511 into one 25 minute programme(strictly no longer than 25 mins) but still do justice to both pieces and not have the composers rolling in their graves etc?

Im looking for a good excuse to do both for some reason or other (I dont mind what that is) but not just for 'home' if you get me... Theyre usually longer together than 25 mins so that particular competition is probably ruled out as an idea for this..

Any other ideas? laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

In my opinion, Benediction de Dieu dans la solitude is one of the finest things Liszt ever wrote. I don't know the Mozart, but you could conceivably take anywhere between 16 and 19 minutes over the Liszt, depending on your idea of tempo and space for the pauses that intersperse the piece. I find it very moving, and if I could play it, I would pair it with something fairly substantial in a recital. But these are just my speculative ideas. Good luck!

Not a chance. The Rondo takes at least 10 minutes. With a sensible gap between them you need a 30 minute slot to play both.

Just to say I love this piece so much I'm scared to listen to the recording too often in case it loses its power over me - something about the sense of stillness and a very cumulative effect. It's at the end of a Stephen Hough disc, one of the 1st CDs I ever bought.
