Has anyone played Op. 2, No.3 by Beethoven? Personally, I find it to be a pretty easy LRSM piece.

Please post your thoughts below.

How about thinking of it this way.

"Personally, I find it to be a pretty easy LRSM piece. So, if the notes are easy, then what is it that makes the experts consider it to be LRSM standard?"

WHAT ARE YOU MISSING???

Getting the notes is not the sole purpose. If it's easy to play, then there must be something ELSE which is considered worthy of LRSM standard.

If you can answer THAT, then you are starting to make some progress.

Think about it..

I couldn't have put it better myself. No piece is easy, you can always play it better than you are doing now no matter how good you are at it. If the technical demands are lower (I don't know I'm assuming this is what you mean by easy) then the artistry and interpretation must be better.

In any case, playing the notes of this piece well is not at all easy - the problems start in the 2nd bar, depending what tempo you take it at!

Yeah, what I meant by "easy" was technically. It's kinda difficult with interpretation, but aren't all pieces difficult to interpret?

BTW, Dave, what notes in the 2nd bar? All there is are two quarter notes!!
Are you sure you're talking about Sonata No. 3 by Beethoven?

Ok well maybe it's the first bar then - I'm talking about the semi quavers in 3rds anyway

the most easiest thing is always turns out to be the most difficult thing...

Oh, those? Are you learning it right now? The fingering should just be
2-4,1-5,2-4,1-5.

Dave_2004_G
Yeh I know the fingering but at speed it's pretty tricky to get those right! Obviously it's not that hard but I was just using an early example of a technical difficulty to illustrate my point that the piece isn't easy

Check out this thread, it's quite interesting
