I'm doing the gerneral questions in the past paper and not sure whether i've got the right end of the stick with naming the chords.

Both are in the key of C minor.
You have to say whether the chord is dim, aug, maj, min and the position of the chord.

The first one is made up of the notes - F, A flat, D flat,
so this would form the chord D flat, F, A flat making it the chord diminished II. Is that right?

The second one is made up of the notes B, D, F, A flat.
making the chord b, d, f, a flat..
so would this chord be diminshed 7th? as its made up of minor 3rds?

thanks

Db F Ab is a major chord.
With the F in the bass doesn't this make it a neopolitan 6th?
For 'position' read 'inversion'.

Mm i know what the position of them are i just forgot about it.

I agree with the fact that that is a major chord but since it is on the second degree of the scale of C minor shouldn't it be diminshed?

the f, a, d flat chord. Isn't a neopolitian 6th on the flatten super tonic and since f isn't that it isn't one? or am i totally confused..

EDIT: actully its the first inversion isn't it so yes it could be a neopolitian 6th.. sorry!
