Hey guys,
I'm a classical piano player so I play mostly classical pieces and also 20th century which I loveee. I have wanted for a long time to explore jazz piano and be able to play it.
How do I go around it? Just get a book and sightread, or...? I think the rhythm would take a bit of getting used to blush.gif
But as I said I love jazz music so would love to try it! biggrin.gif
Thanks alot, PSL tongue.gif

Lots and lots of listening. Also there are some good introduction to jazz manuals such as those by Tim Richards / ABRSM Jazz Piano from Scratch.

It depends whether you want to play jazzy pieces or to play jazz with others. Two good books have been mentioned, you could also consider The Jazz Piano Book by Mark Levine. So yes, buy books, listen and listen some more and maybe get a good jazz teacher or go on a jazz course. There's loads of jazz repertoire to explore at various levels. smile.gif

Come on, you've got to be a bit proactive here! You must have heard of at least one jazz pianist??!

Go to your local music shop, record shop or library, search on the net, ask friends what they listen to, ask your teacher, find out if there are any jazz concerts on in your area...
