I have just finished
this little piece, but am concerned slightly about the entry into bar 35 with the singer on an E against the D major chord. I can do it, but then I wrote it and it's kind of in my head now, but it looks quite difficult - what do you think?

Yup, tricky. Tell the singer to imagine that they are going sing yesterday by the beatles, into the D major chord - that should help them find the second. It obviously involves them pretending to be in d major for a second, but so soon after a key change, it should be possible.

A very interesting setting, dcmbarton! I enjoyed singing it through. The E against D major does seem 'wrong', but it isn't difficult to pitch, given it is only a second up from the previous sung note. If it is as you 'heard' it, then you should be confident enough to leave it as-is.

I liked this setting too but didn't much care for that E. I tried singing a upper D, F sharp and A and the best for me was the A. It's your work though so if you want it keep it as it is. It is easy enough to pitch.
