So I'm getting a new violin, the Antoni Premiere (Here's a picture) and I want to keep it in good condition.
For example, when the rosin goes onto the violin, what should I wipe it away with?
Here is the link,it's the second violin down.
And also, what else should I do to keep it in good condition?

Thanks!
rosfrog
Just wipe it down with a clean cloth after each use to remove the rosin - that's all you need to do.

Enjoy your violin!

A good tip that will help with cleaning is simply not to use too much rosin to start with. There shouldn't be much on the body of the violin, if any, after playing. If you're seeing clouds of dust as you play and there's a liberal sprinkling on the body afterwards, cut down on the amount you use. That way you also avoid the dilemmas of how to get old rosin off the body, strings and even the bow! Saves money on rosin as well. smile.gif

Make sure you wipe the underside of the string too - it gets underneath and can muffle the sound.

Don't use a coin! A cellist conducting a youth orchestra I was in told us it worked, but it wrecks violin strigs after a while (works for cellos...)

That thread's got info on string cleaner too.

Good luck!

Just wipe down the violin at the end of a days practice. Also do not use too much rosin.

Occasionally, say once a week clean the fingerboard and chin rest.

Other than that just be sensible, do not drop the violin or subject it to extreme temperature of any kind and you will be fine.
