Does anyone have any suggestions for a song suitable to sing at Christmas which will sound really impressive? I'm a soprano, post Dip not yet ready for LRSM, but I need to stun someone with my vocal talent!
Any suggestions?

How about O Holy Night by Adolphe Adam? There's a stunning top Bb at the end and you can show off your beautiful legato throughout.

Does it have to be christmas related?? Because if not Bester Jungling- Mozart has some very challenging runs, even if it is only on the grade syllabus and your post Dip!

I love Holy Night. It is to be one of my solos this year.
If you want something different you might try the ode by Alan Hovhaness: As On The Night- for soprano and piano.

Is there anything suitable in the Christmas Oratorio?

Mozart's Allelujia? Pertinent to Christmas, surely? (I plan to sing this at my Christmas student concert - along with O Holy Night.)

How about Rejoice Greatly from the Messiah. Lovely flashy runs and coloratura without it being too high, and definately relevant for Chirstmas.
Othersiw a really controlled Nulla in Mundo Pax Sincera (Vivaldi) would go down well.

I've sung that, when visiting a friend at uni after chucking out time from the pubs we merrily stood there at the bus stop, somewhere in London, at about two in the morning blaring out a horrible falsetto that gave us plenty of room in the bus queue!

Um, Alleluja or Holy night? If the latter - the top Bb one, as per Kiri te Kanawa. If the former, Sylvia McNair.

Sorry, AnnC, my post was directed at the OP - I was wondering what style of singing we were talking about, but I suppose it's classical given the responses.
Should make myself clearer!

S'OK Allan - I misread. Back to the Camembert, then - although I prefer a nice bit of port-marinaded stilton, myself .
