Hi,

Introducing myself as I've just registered here! I'm trying to take up the violin again after a break of four years or so (somehow lapsed when I went to uni). I was at a reasonable grade 8 standard before I stopped, but I'm finding it'll probably take quite a while to get to the same level, especially without a teacher. All teh same it's quite exciting smile.gif.

See you around,

Hi there,

why don't you try a few lessons? I have one half hour lesson every two weeks - it's enough to keep me on track, but not so expensive or time consuming that it takes over my life (and finances)! biggrin.gif

I'm just learning the viola. I play the flute, but was feelin' kinda bored with that, so something new is good to keep me interested in learning.

Welcome to the Forum smile.gif

I would definitely recommend you try some lessons. I play the piano (and still do sometimes- but not as good as I use to be) and viola but decided to return to the viola after a 9 year break (lasped throughout uni) as it was more practical as I don't own a piano. Have to go to parents house to play piano. Anyway, I have a lesson sometime every week or every two weeks so you don't have to break the bank balance. You would really enjoy and I'm sure would benefit from it.

Hey,

Thanks to everyone for the advice and friendly messages! smile.gif

Getting lessons again probably is the best way forward. My previous teacher was a fantastic accompanist so now when I think about it lessons would be excellent. Does anyone happen to know a good teacher based in south Manchester (I've moved across the country since I last learnt)?!

I was thinking about trying to save for a digital piano but I'd need lessons for that as well, so reviving the violin first sounds the best plan!

Hello Goldfish!

I'm only Grade 4 at the moment so Grade 8 looks like the top of Everest for me laugh.gif
