Hi there.
I started a thread on Viva Piano headed 'Grade IV piano'
I'm doing it after christmas in the next session.
I've chosen Polonaise (A), Prelude 28 - B and I'm still not sure about C.
Have a look on the other thread for other ppls comments.

I agree with your students Digby
I must admit, I really don't like 'March'
I think it sounds pretty terrible with the mixture of sharps and flats.
There's no sense of where it's going from bar to bar. You can't predict or feel what it's going to do next.

Ahh, thats the skill. They sound great when you get them right and trust me, it really does flow well eventually.

Mmmm....I'll take your word for it.
It sounds as though she was tone deaf when it was written
I think I'm going to have to settle for one of the pieces out of the exam book. Maybe the jazz one ?

Yes I am !
I am totally besotted with the Prelude - B I can't stop playing it !
Totally reccomend this one.
I've finished both A and B and just working on the dynamics and expression.
I always learn the piece first then add final dynamics.
I think I'm going to play Freeway for C
Have a look at Prelude and tell me what you think.

Hi all,
have listened to the C pieces on the CD and I think I'll stick with the Kabalevsky. Freeway is quite a good one too.
I agree with Fiona the Prelude is beautiful. I'll probably go with the Divertimento as well (although it goes on for ever!).

i can play polonaise now wif both hands, but still a few pause at a few part.it sounds good.really good!!!
i ahven't try prelude, but it seems that it's the nicest piece in the B list, so i think i'm going to choose prelude.
and i just love to play freeway, it gives me a jazzy and lively feel, it's nice and not very hard to play too.
i've just finish learning all the arpeggios , sclaes, minor and major, broken chord.phew!!!it took me a week to memorise all of them.but i'm happy since i've finally done it.
