Just thought I would pass on this tip as I have just discovered some great resources in my local library eg several theory books with CDs of examples and also an audio book (James Naughtie's History of Western Music, I think) which has been really helpful for me in preparing for the exam (and interesting to listen to on my daily commute!) Best of all, it was all FREE which is just as well as I have spent too much on music books recently

Oh well done, thanks for the tip, I always forget about the library. Our town is opening a big new one shortly so maybe I will be popping along to see what I can find.

Congratulations Tortellini, and welcome to the delights of local library music resources! I remember my initial excitement on discovering that several of my local libraries stock not only a good range of books on music, and a wide selection of CDs (many of them classical too), but also scores of scores

sorry, I couldn't resist.
I sympathise with the over-spending on music scores, as I too have frequent 'moments of madness' with the sheet music...
... or do you mean books 'about' music? Yes, I splash the cash too much on that front too...

Do you know I had forgotten that libraries stock music scores, years ago when I had one of the old bontempi organs and I had no money I remember getting out some music from my local library. I am forever looking for new things to play and it can become expensive, at the moment I have a full cupboard full of music for the piano!
Thank you for reminding me.
