Well my piano arrived about 1.15pm and it is truly lovely. It looks and sounds so nice. The man threw in a free polished black stool in with it for me for free.

Just stopped for a break, back to practise now. My piano teacher is coming round at 7.00pm to give me a lesson and I need to make sure that I am used to it.

I have played my practise pieces (the exam pieces that I am working on) then I have moved on to older stuff which was easier to play so that I could really go with the flow. I am now having a go at Farewell to Stromness which I bought about a year ago to do as a project.

Chat more later, don't want to waste piano time whilst I am in the house on my own.

Enjoy your new piano.

It took me about 3 months to REALLY get used to mine.

Its lovely and I think I am already used to it I have played it so much today!. But it is such a treat after what I have been playing, one thats notes stick all the time and made in 1920's. Not that it wasn't a nice piano, just had its day I think.

My teacher came round to my house tonight for my lesson and checked the piano out. She loved it and said that I had chosen well.

I must have missed it too.
Farewell to Stromness, a lovely piece which I have heard on radio 3 some time ago. How playable is it, what grade do you think?

I think it was on the grade 6 syllabus about three or four syllabuses ago....

I am not sure of the grade, there are bits in it I can't do, one part has a 9th and my fingers wont stretch that far. I am only working for Grade 4 but I will give anything a go. Luckily I have really good sightreading.

It is a Black polished GEBR Perzina 122. It is made in China but all the parts are from Germany. It has the same tone as a German piano and it is lovely.

Farewell to Stromness is in 'Real Repertoire for Piano' Grades 4 -6, Trinity Repertoire Library/Faber. I'm sure it's in other books too, but that's the one I have to hand at present.
