I think this could turn out to be the bane of my life so far. I either trill for too long or too short blush.gif My teacher has explained, but it all goes to pot once i'm on my own. Anyone got any foolproof tips.

I try it slow, its okay then i speed up and my fingers go nuts tongue.gif Tell me i shall have this cracked before November.

hey,

what i usually do is write in the trill onto the music and count how many notes are supposed to be and then when trilling count how many you have played of the trill, this usually works.
i hope this makes sense to you.

Yeah i do that sometimes, knowing how many times i'm going to trill so then it's more like playing repeated demisemiquavers or something and you can imagine how it'd look written out... rather than just trilling

You probably need to strengthen the trilling finger. Try this:

Play the two notes like a dotted quaver (eighth note) followed by a semiquaver (sixteenth). Do this about eight times. Then reverse it and play the two notes like a semiquaver followed by a dotted quaver, doing it about eight times. Then do the whole process again.

Now try playing the two notes evenly - you'll probably find you can play them faster and more clearly than before. If you still can't get them fast enough for a trill, go back and do the whole process again, a little faster each time you do it.

I guarantee you this will make a difference!
