If someone asked you to write a piece of music with two or fewer parts, would you take that to mean two instruments (e.g. piano and flute) or two 'voices) (e.g. clarinet and flute)?

I suppose it could mean either actually - can you check with them?

I'm looking at the ALCM syllabus - I've checked quite a few things already wink.gif

Are you looking to do the ALCM in composition? My copy says two or fewer instruments rather than parts.

PS. I have just checked online and it does indeed say two or fewer parts there. I would opt for an unaccompanied flute piece.

Oh dear. I've got everything else ready to go as well! Well, I hope I get some inspiration soon for this piece!

Do you have a piano solo that you could use? Well done for getting it ready. My LLCM stuff is not there yet. One large work to finish.

Um....not sure; I'll have a look. I've got several organ solos - would they count? I was rather hoping that my set of songs for mezzo and piano would count as two parts! Good luck with the LLCM. Did you do the ALCM first?

I would think that an organ piece would be ideal. I did the AmusLCM ages ago as well as the LTCL paperwork. I did a lot of composition in college too and have written and arranged music ever since. I want to do the LLCM for the discipline of working to a brief and to see what an examiner makes of my work. I have promised copies of some songs of mine to one of our forum singers but can't send them until after the exam.
Let us know how your folio does. smile.gif
