Full Version: Upgrading From 61 Key Yahama

Well, the Yahama E203 has been in my bedroom for nearly a year now for private practice at night and when other people are around. The acoustic stands happily in the lounge and is also used. The E203 only has 61 keys and I am thinking of upgrading to one with 88 keys. I have seen M-Audio Prokeys 88SX for £214.99. Are these any good? I don't even care about weighted keys and am very happy with the touch on the E203. Is it worth getting the M-Audio, which I in my ignorance have never heard of, or should I just stick with the Yahama which I do actually like, and be grateful that I do actually have an acoustic as well. The reason for thinking about the upgrade was the obvious limitations for practising certain material without the full 88 keys.

The other reason for choosing this rather than upgrading to another Yahama is I don't want to spend an arm and a leg and the M-Audio appears to be very slim.

Have you played one yet? That might make the decision for you.

It's a very cheap price for 88 notes. That might make me look around further.

Thank you for answering, John. I haven't actually seen one in a shop, only online, and was wondering if anyone on these forum had any experience with them. Due to the lack of the response, it looks as if they have not and so I had better stick to what I know. As you said, the price does look a bit too good for 88 keys.
