Congrats to all on good results! Over here in Ireland we STILL cannot check our results on-line. The combination of this and that AB doesn't run or plan to run any of its courses here says to me that they just don't care about us over here sad.gif

Only the person who entered you can find the results on line. You have to have a applicant number and password and you can only access the results of the pupils you entered!!!

Fantastic results so far..... party1.gif party1.gif

Yes, it's a little annoying.

Here in Northern Ireland there's no problem with online results, but I agree that the lack of courses/seminars is frustrating. Lets face it, Belfast and Dublin are two forces to be reckoned with in the music world and included on many a respectable artiste's tour. I have written previously to the Board querying this, but havn't yet received any replies.

Still waiting for theory results to appear though.

Many congratulations to everyone who've got their results! smile.gif

Daughter's test centre was N097- she was entered by the teacher so I can't check this online. The teacher says that the results take 6 weeks minimum so there is no chance of them being here yet...Oh well, we'll see. The wait is not nice!!! sad.gif

I tell my students theory results take about 6 weeks too. If I said 4 weeks, I'd be getting daily phone calls until the results come in! Students are surprised when I phone them with results in less than 6 weeks.

Yes there does seem to be a big of a brick wall up as regards doing any seminars etc here. Surely if they chose Dublin OR Belfast it would work well as it is very easy to reach both from most points on the island. So they wouldn't have to do both! Oh well. mad.gif

Sorry for hijacking the thread and congrats to all who have received their theory results! party1.gif

grade 8 theory- merit 82

Wow Jason that is a fantastic result for Grade 8. I am working on Grade 6 and had hoped that I would be ready to take that in November but at the moment I just can't see it happening. Does it suddenly all fall into place?

I managed the Grade 3, 4 and 5 in a few weeks but so far I can't sit and work through a past paper on my own, when I am with my teacher I can do it.

Congratulations Jason_piano, that's a great result. I'm still waiting for my Grade 8 result.
Jason_piano
I knew I wasn't going to get a distinction and as soon as I looked at the paper I didn't think a merit was possible so I am extremely delighted.

Yes it kind of does all fall into place however i took grade 6 theory in feb and only got 66 which is a scrape of a pass. It will be interesting to see the breakdown

G6 is for many a big leap from G5 so you should give yourself a little time extra from what you did in the earlyer grades.

Hi Thanks for that, I do appreciate it is a big leap but I have been working on it since February, but then I have to admit not every week, as I have also been working hard on the piano, aiming for Grade 4 in November.

Just found mine online - 85 for Grade 8. Like Jason_piano when I saw the paper I knew a distinction wasn't on the cards, but also thought it would be a bare pass, so am thrilled to have got a merit. smile.gif

Still nothing online or any email, but the certificate arrived this afternoon by Donkey Royal Mail - she got 86! Not bad considering she only started on the g5 past papers 2 days before the exam.

Daughter 2 (taught theory by her instrumental teacher) got 83, so that makes all three of us with Merit for g5 Theory.

Phew what a relief!

Took my gr 6 theory 14 th June (were they all on the same day?) and result appeared online today.

Got 80 -something (forgotten already!) which was a Merit and therefore I was so happy and relieved that I nearly shouted out loud - most inappropriate behaviour for where I happen to be!

Fingers crossed for a good result for those still waiting. smile.gif

Well done! I was just going to post asking whether anyone ever got 100 after two of mine got 98 (not that I'm complaining at that tongue.gif ). I've had quite a few 98s in the past but never 100.

Anyhow, VERY pleased with my results:
Grade 1 93
Grade 1 98
Grade 1 98
Grade 5 90
All distinctions!

One of the Grade 1s who got 98 is my little 8 year old daughter - I'm so chuffed that she pulled a mark like that out of the bag!
The Grade 5 pupil is a little girl who is still at primary school, only 11, youngest pupil I've ever had take it. I'd have been pleased for her to pass as we only did Gr 4 in the spring. I am so thrilled to bits she got a distinction I am lost for words biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Trio sonata - 13/15
Completion of piano piece - 12/15
Melody - 18/20 - huge surprise as I thought what I wrote was rubbish!
Questions on piano piece - 18/25 - surprised again as this is usually one of my best questions - will wait to get the 2008 papers and see if I can remember what I put and see where I went wrong
Orchestral extract - 24/25.

Did much better than expected on the questions I thought were really hard, and not as well on the questions I expected to do really well on.

Are you going to go on to do a theory diploma? The one I'm interested in is the A.MusTCL, as ABRSM don't do a theory diploma unfortunately.

No, I took grade 8 theory just for a couple of university modules (even though I did enjoy some of it). I'm going to just focus on piano for a while.

You do know that you can do trinity's LmusTCL if you click on the written diplomas bit and look at the pdf, the pre-requisite is grade 8 theory or equivalent
