If you entered through the college then they are the ones who can access the online results and the rpaper results and certificate will also go to them (unless your address was on the form).

Got my results yesterday... Grade 4 with distinction! I got 100%! blush.gif biggrin.gif

I'm very pleased with myself smile.gif . I was a bit surprised as I didn't feel like i'd done quite as well as last time - especially in the rhythm section (it must all be clicking in to place - I'm especially glad I managed to pull off the upbeat start I used). I think as I go on learning i'm getting more and more aware of what I don't know laugh.gif .

Congratulations to everyone for the fab results! party1.gif You have my special admiration you grade 8-ers... what a huge achievement! ohmy.gif biggrin.gif

Well done! 100%! Be very proud!

Well done everyone - am nervously awaiting my Grade 5 result!!

Any results for Dublin for anyone else yet?

You can check your results online if you log on under UK entries and view results - that's how I viewed my practical exam results last year. If you log on under Rep of Ireland entries it gives you a much more limited set of options. I think it was pianodub who was asking about it!

Got Beth result. Grade 5 Theory 72%.
I am so happy.
I know it isn't a great result and I'm going to get her to help her (older) brother with his theory this summer to help her reinforce it.
I want to thanks this forum for all the help we had. People here have been very generous in pointing out resources and answering technical questions. You probably made the difference between her passing and failing.

It IS a great result! Pat her on the back, chuck her under the chin, she's done very well and deserves spoiling for a little while.
66% is quite a high pass mark compared to some exams these days! She has gone well over that. Good for her!
Minuet3
Oh this is sooooo frustrating, I feel like the only person in the country still waiting for their theory results!! I thought as everyone has been getting their's throughout the week, they would all have been processed by the end of today, my centre is usually amongst the last to come out, but it looks like it will be next week now...

Congratulations to all those who passed so far, anyone else still waiting?

I haven't had mine yet either. I'm thinking maybe I've failed and my tutor just doesn't want to tell me sad.gif

Finally got the Grade 5 theory result for our 11 year old- 84%!

She was hoping for a distinction so is a little disappointed but I'm very proud of her, especially as she hadn't done any other theory exams before and only started working on theory after her SAT exams.
elisabeth_rb
I got back from my hols today to my result and nice certificate. Grade 2 at 98%! Seems they found my 4 bar rhythm a bit lacking as that was where the 2 marks were lost, but I'm delighted with it and looking forward to Grade 4 in November. smile.gif
Maizie
Haha, I got back from my hols to a certificate too! Merit for G5, 88%.

Realistically, I was expecting a merit so that was good. I was annoyed for a bit at only being 2 marks away from a distinction, so then I said to myself 'so, you'd be happier with 82 than 88?' and then I realised I was perfectly pleased with 88 smile.gif Most annoying, there were a few sections where I lost the odd mark, so if I'd've done those properly rather than possibly sloppily, I'd have got the distinction. (As expected, I lost a large chunk of marks on the composition; no hope was held for that part anyway once I got there and discovered it was in E minor! It's the odd marks in the other bits that annoy me...)

Still, pleased enough that I may order myself a G6 book or two to work on over the next age... biggrin.gif

Still no results..... sad.gif sad.gif

Still not had my pupil's result...

well done to all those who have passed!

I just discovered from reading the teachers' forum that the results go out in alphabetical order by centre.
I'm in Central London, X01X so I'm almost bottom of the list. I'm waiting for Grade 5 for a student of mine and hoping they will come in this week - this is week 6 after the exam which is when the board says results should be available.
elliewelly
I haven't had my pupil's yet either. I've normally found it takes 5-6 weeks so expecting them any day now.
elliewelly
... he passed! biggrin.gif
kat the cobbler
My tutor sent me a message this morning. I got a merit with 82% wooooohooo I'm well happy with that considering I thought I was going to fail.
piano*singing*lover
Woo my first EVER abrsm exam and I passed grade 5 with a merit. I'm so pleased, I thought I had failed it never mind even getting a pass.
Thanks PSL tongue.gif

Mine came through today.... (Yeovil centre) .... 2x Grade 1 1 Distinction, 1 merit
1x Grade 2, Distinction. I am really pleased....... especially the Gr 2 as she worked really hard and was disappointed with her Gr 3 practical result last week (she didn't get a distinction!!!!!).
Orla
Well done everyone!!

Still no result for my grade 5 taken at the Dublin centre sad.gif

Does anyone know if there is a particular time of day the results are uploaded to the website??

They seem to be uploading results all day. Hope you don't have to wait much longer, Orla.

Hello everyone,

My music teacher has informed me that I have passed my Grade 5 Theory results, however, I have not yet recieved the actual mark, and I was wondering whether I could locate my results online?

Thank you,

Sam94. wink.gif
Maizie
Who entered you?

The only person who can check results on line is the person who submitted the entry. They have an applicant number and a password, so they can use the online services. So if your teacher did your entry, you can't check the results yourself. You can only look up your results online if you entered yourself.

Not unless you put in the entry yourself.
Ask your teacher your mark. Your teacher will get the mark sheet too. I think that most teachers would give this to you along with your certificate and maybe talk through any things that lost you more than a couple of marks.
Sam94
Thanks for the reply, I managed to get my result.

I got 76 in my G5 Theory. I was pleased, but was hoping for a merit. But I'm over 3/4 right anyway, so that's fine by me. I was really pleased that I got full marks on my intervals and cadential chords. smile.gif

My result doesn't really look much to many of yours, but I'm so glad I can crack on with my Grade 6 now, that I think I'd be happy with any pass result.

Congratulations everyone!

Does anyone know when "merit" was introduced for theory exams? I'm pretty sure that when my daughter took grade 5 in around 1997 there was only "pass" and "distinction".
Maizie
2002 according to the theory stats page - it has the 2001 results with pass/distinction/fail and a note to say that merit was only introduced in 2002.
Orla

Still waiting in Dublin........ sad.gif
elliewelly
I did Grade 8 Theory in 1998 and got 86% but my certificate says "pass" rather than "merit" as a merit category hadn't been introduced! I have to confess though that I didn't do very much work for it (already had a music degree so just read through the Music Theory in Practice book - had passed gr. 6 theory papers while at school) and was just hoping to get 66%! As there was no merit category, I later wished I'd worked a bit harder to earn an extra 4 marks - oh well! I have considered re-taking it to try to get a merit officially, but it's a bit of a waste of money...

Oh, you are good at picking up on these things! Thanks very much. smile.gif

I wonder why they decided to introduce it? My daughter would have had a merit if she'd taken it later. The diplomas are still just pass and distinction at the moment, but perhaps they'll introduce a merit there at some point; there seem to be a few more people taking them each year.

A Merit in Grade 8 THEORY? VERY VERY WELL DONE!!! I got 88 for Gr 5, damn, so close to a distinction, yes so far... better luck with grade 6 lol
controller76
Very well done to all successes, I remember my Grade 5 Theory exam a long time ago...

I'm still not sure how I passed, I got 68...Whew! only just.
ninmurai
Test centre X087 have just published their results. I got 91% for G6 biggrin.gif I don't know the breakdown yet so I'll get back on that one
Minuet3
And I finally got my G8 results yesterday, 90% biggrin.gif

I'm a bit baffled, as I found the paper really difficult, came out of the exam not having any idea how I had done on the three harmony questions, although I am usually OK on the general questions. But I'm not going to complain... woot.gif

Congratulations everyone wonderful results.

My friends 11 year old daughter did her Grade 5 theory ,they were anticipating a scrape pass so that she could move on to Grade 6 piano. She surprised them all, including herself with 93% distinction.

........and dublin is STILL waiting.....

and I'm on holiday for next week, starting Saturday so if I don't get a result tomorrow I'll be waiting aaages sad.gif

Has anyone had to wait longer than 6 weeks in past experiences?
denmark77
No, never had to wait more than 6 weeks in my experience, but this '6 weeks' idea is only a rough guide to give some idea of timescale. Hope your results get to you soon ...

Two of my students had their theory results this week - Grade 6 distinction (90) and Grade 7 (76). Very chuffed for them both.

Well it was worth the wait and I am in complete shock

ORLA KEANE THEORY 05 091 Distinction

I taught myself.....it's my first theory exam.....and I thought my composition was a load of rubbish!!!

Can't wait to see the breakdown of the marks :-)

No results here yet - and I had quite a few taking various grades this time, so I wish they'd hurry up!
