Anybody play this? I just love that piece, but dont have the music as yet, and it does sound quite difficult.
Did Tournemire compose anything else? I've not heard of any other work by him.

Incidentally there's a good recording of Te Deum on a CD 'The French Connection' from Paisley Abbey (George McPhee). It does however end with the ubiquitous 'Carillon de Big Ben'

..you bet...loads ...try L'Orgue Mystique for starters - a cycle of liturgical music, 51 suites, each for a different Sunday or feast day of the RC liturgical year. I love Tournemire's stuff but have to duck when I mention it in the presence of my organ teacher ph34r.gif ...he also composed symphonies apparently, though I haven't heard these. I enjoy playing his Petite Fleurs musicales, which is just about all I can manage at present.

Can I play the Te Deum by Tournemire? When there are no more Baroque pieces left in this world to learn then I might start looking at it.
Until then, Im happy working through all of Buxtehudes organ works (not at the same time), and the Apparition de l'eglise eternelle by Messiaen.

The Improvisation sur le Te Deum is fairly simple but there are some extremely tricky spots throughout the length of the work.

It is certainly easier than the Choral Improvisation sur Victimae Paschali which is from the same set of improvisations.

There is also a slightly less known work by Tournemire called Piece Symphonique which might be worth a look at.

A very noble project. I have about 6 of the Preludia learned at various stages. I'm just tackling the very exciting F sharp minor one. The free works were the set topic for FRCO and that rekindled my interest. I can't decide which recordings to buy at the moment, the market is a little flooded with sets appearing.
