Is it any great benefit to have a higher theory grade than 5?

I am studying for Grade 6 (hopefully higher) but we will see how it goes.
Im finding it hard to study as my auditions start in november and I have a few of them. (it doesn't help either that all establishments hve different audition material!!!! blink.gif )

Please help me...

If it has no substantial benefit, I do not want to overload my music sessions in my day, I am already doing around 5-6 hours of practicle a day.

i have no idea, but i would say grade 6, so you have a basic knowledge of harmony - the best thing to do is to call UCAS

Hi micky-d

In terms of UCAS points, then yes - higher Theory grades are certainly useful, as even a pass at Grade 6 attracts 5 UCAS points ... blink.gif

To be honest, when applying to university / music college, the more musical aptitude you can show (and have evidence of) the better.

If you hoping to study composition, an advanced ability at music theory is a big bonus too.

Good luck for the auditions
