Title says it all tongue.gif

I need to buy all my music online because the decent shop is hundreds of miles away. I only know of one in the UK - can anybody recommend websites please.

Thanks

(p.s. I'm looking for the Handel violin sonatas as I am just about to start them with my teacher biggrin.gif They sound brilliant!)

try musicroom.com

Also try boosey and hawks online store.

Hope you get what you want.

I tend to use Musicroom because they are the company behind my favourite music shop (Argents) and they have the added facility that you can search individual shops to find a piece. Sometimes it is quicker to get a piece sent from a real life shop that actually has the item in stock, rather than wait for the item to come back into the website stock. If that makes sense.

Chappells are also useful.

Both of these allow you to phone in and get items sent from individual stores as well as ordering on line.

Hope you find the music you want - good luck with the sonatas.

I highly recommend Dot's Camden Music Shop. This is a real music shop which also does online sales. If something isn't listed, don't assume they haven't got it, or will order it for you. I prefer to ring up and speak to Dot or her assistant personally - they are lovely people. This also ensures that I get my 10% teacher's discount. If music is in stock it goes in the post that day - I have ordered at 4 pm and had it delivered the next day, obviously depending on the whims of the postal service. I'm all for encouraging small businesses who give personal service - it helps keep them open as an ordinary shop too.

For string music we often use Fuller Music. They have a website but you have to order by phone. So far everything we've wanted has been in stock so everything has arrived within 24 - 48 hours.

Musicroom are good, unless it's something a little more unusual, or you want a specific edition. A 7 or even 14 day delivery on non-stock items is sometimes just too long to wait.

I generally use Chappell's and Brittens, because they have most things in stock, even some quite off-the-wall pieces and if I'm going to be in London I can collect it and save on the postage. Brittens give a 15% discount to bona fide teachers and students.

How do you get 15% at Britten's, Amanda? They only give me 10% (that's the West Byfleet shop).
