I'm reposting this in here (already posted in teachers) as I've had no luck.
I'm looking for a (good) violin teacher for my kids. Can anyone help?
We live a few miles north of Burnley.

Is there an amateur orchestra in your area which has violin players who might also teach?
http://www.amateurorchestras.org.uk/onorthwe.htmHave you tried searching on Google (sorry if that's too obvious!)

I know you implied on another thread that you didn't want to travel far but you may have to. A lot of good teachers are based in and around Manchester as they play and teach there.
Good luck with your search.

Hi, I live in North Manchester and have just started taking lessons again after a 20 yr break! I rang David Vernon Violins based in Manchester and asked if he could recomend anyone, he was very helpful. Theres a fantastic shop in Blackpool too, depends where abouts you are. I have nearly a 50 mile round trip for my lesson which is a bit of a nightmare but I like the fact she was reccomended.
Failing that I googled violin teachers and found a site that gave local ones (cant remember sorry). There was closer teachers but I decided to go with the recomended lady.
Good luck.

I've still not found a teacher in Pendle!
We had a call from Burnley music service the other day.. They
may have a vacancy in September but the lesson may only be 20 minutes and shared with another child...
You'd think I'd be able to find a private violin teacher for 2 kids!! I mean surely someone wants £20 or so for an hours work with two *ahem* delightful children??

Doesn't Pendle have a Youth Orchestra? I think they do. It might be an idea to contact them.

Thanks, I'd tried that. The closest on that list is about 30 minutes drive.. A bit further than we'd like.

They do. Both my kids used to go but left when they became really strict and changed the practice times.. They weren't much use either.

Is BB4 close enough to you? (Outskirts of Haslingden apparently).

I'd seen that one.. But it's too far really..
it'd be a 2 hour round trip (including lesson times)..
That's just too much...

You may have to accept that you will have to travel further than you want to. Unless you're lucky and a teacher moves into the area as you can't find anyone closer.

Since the nearest large music shop would presumably be Forsyths in Manchester, have you tried asking there if they know anybody in your area?

Yesss!!!! @ Haslingden. Wonderful place!
I make Hassy quite a short drive from Burnley (straight over the bypass or quite a picturesque drive over the hills and down through Rawtenstall. How close are you looking for?
Cheers,
Matt.

I can recommend people in Manchester, but that's probably too far, right?

It is really..
1 hours drive, two 30 minute lessons and an hour home..
Both me and my husband work full time..
Can't face that on a weekly basis.
