Hi All,

Does anyone have access to the correct answers for MTIP Grade 5 workbook exercises 28-30 on intervals please?

I've registered to take the grade 5 theory exam in June and I'm teaching myself so support/suggestions/advice would be most welcome, especially from anyone who has successfully got themselves through grade 5 without a teacher!

I worked though Grade 5 theory without a teacher and passed it quite well.

In terms of suggestions and advice, the things I found most useful (which were all bits of advice given to me by forum members) were:

1. Get the past papers and work though them - apparently you can also buy solutions. This would have helped me greatly but I didn't realise they existed until after the exam!

2. Don't ignore the earlier grade stuff, I'm not saying go through all the MTIP books for the lower grades (although I did) but some of the areas like adding in the correct rests are covered in the earlier grades

3. Not sure what book you are using, but I was given a brilliant recommendation to buy First Steps in Music Theory (thanks to Skylark for that one) and it is excellent in setting down what you need to know but explains it much better than the dreaded 'pink book'

4. If you want more practice with intervals, I found the site http://www.teoria.com/exercises/ii.htm incredibly useful (it took me ages to get intervals and without a teacher I didn't know if I was getting them correct)

In terms of general support, this forum has lots and lots of people who are really good at theory and are all really helpful.

Good luck biggrin.gif
