I had an email from my teacher this morning...

...I passed Grade 3 violin... biggrin.gif

... with Distinction party1.gif biggrin.gif

blush.gif Sorry if I sound a bit proud but only about four people know I even play the violin so I have nobody else to tell and I have such a strong urge to do cartwheels all round the room!!!! laugh.gif I can't stop grinning and just want to give Martha a great big cuddle and a kiss tongue.gif (but actually I have to get back to work and behave like a grown-up.)

But I REALLY though I'd totally messed up the scales rolleyes.gif wacko.gif
(I don't have the total mark or the comment sheet yet though).

blush.gif Thanks everyone tongue.gif party1.gif

I bought the Grade 4 book two weeks before the Grade 3 exam because I was so sick of the pieces laugh.gif But then I took a few days away from them and went back to them fresh for the day itself.

I was all set to enter Grade 4 in June but my teacher said NOOOOOO!!!!! (in a loud and booming voice) laugh.gif I really have far too much work on just now to fit in enough violin practice and she knows I'd get myself in a big tizzy laugh.gif So I'm going to aim for November.. far more sensible... and then Grade 5 next June. (Which feels so far away... but then I don't want to rush rolleyes.gif )

I really want Grade 5 so that I can join my local orchestra (like 'Jojo' I think) but it looks like it will have to wait until next summer after all. Although I haven't asked what the entry standard is so perhaps I should blink.gif

And to celebrate Grade 3 I'm going to start looking for a new BOW ph34r.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif

(p.s. yes, the buzz has gone but my new bridge is so low that if my technique improves I might find the strings hitting the fingerboard... can never win! (But double stopping should be easier tongue.gif ))

I read my marks sheet last night and the examiner said I made some slips in my sight-reading. I didn't blink.gif!!!. I should know; I used to teach and play at diploma level. I came out thinking I perhaps could have used more dynamic range in the sight-reading but that was all wacko.gif It was one of the bits I was really pleased with - and my aural laugh.gif

But I did think he was generous with my scales mark though biggrin.gif
