Has anyone else seen them yet? I saw the Grade One book in a shop today. Different cover and typeface in essence, with just odd different bit

I need to get a Grade 2 book, have they revised that as well? Wonder if they've made the explanations clearer.

This page has the 'news release' about them: http://abrsmpublishing.com/publications/446/news

It says:
QUOTE
Grade 1 is now available, with Grades 2-5 to follow in April and May. Grades 6-8 will have new covers, but the text will remain the same.

So I take that to mean that 1-5 have different content to the old version (as well as new covers)
Misterioso
I thought Grades 6-8 had been altered to accommodate syllabus changes and were called Big 6 etc. Have I got this right? In which case, why are they re-issuing the Theory in Practice Grades 6-8? I am confused! blink.gif

It's not useless but THeory in Practice are the books which cover the syllabus since about 1999.
I don't think the changes were huge; maybe some different things at different grades with most of the difference being in the format of the questions (particularly the last 2).
I don't know why MTIP has still been available for the later grades. unsure.gif

don't panic! I checked with the Abrsm publishing website for grade 6-8 only the cover has changed whats inside is still the same.

As I understand it...

* MTIP G1-5: New editions coming out, with new insides.

* MTIP G6-8: These are just changing cover. These books were originally written before 1999; there was an exam format change in 1999, so while these books cover the right subjects, they don't cover it in a way that matches the post-1999 exam papers.

* Theory Workbook G6-8 ("Big 6-8"): These books came out with the 1999 format change. They cover the syllabus in a format that relates to the current G6-8 exam format.

I had a look at MTIP and the Big 6 books the other day. I actually preferred MTIP and that's what I got - the Big 6 book seemed to have more exercises and less explanation, whereas it seemed to be other way round for MTIP. Or maybe it was just laid out in a different way, but I preferred the layout of MTIP as well. And after all, it's not as if the information in MTIP is "wrong", and recent past papers when I get them nearer the time will clarify the format of the questions.
