Hi,
About 10yrs ago when I was at school my music teacher played the whole class his favourite piece. I really liked this piece, and now I'm at a better standard of playing I fancied having a go at it, the only problem is I don't know what it was called!
I remember the title was something to do with 'going to the market' and it had all different sections which represented things like camel sellers and the different atmostpheres in a middle eastern market. I remember his copy of the sheet music looked fairly old and had a yellow ish front cover.
It was at Heathfield School and Mr Galt, although I doubt there's anyone else from there on the forum who might remember!
I know this probably all sounds very random, but if anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Lizzie

It sound to me like "In a persian Market" by Albert Ketelbey. Lovely piece

and great fun to play!

yes! my string ensemble plays it for gigs sometimes... the first part is quiet and pizzicato, with a slow, sad section somewhere in the middle.

Thats amazing. My copy is 45 years old, if not 50 yrs, and its looks exactly like that, though a bit battered now. Price 6d (ie old pence), thats 2.5 p.
Anyone want to work out the inflation rate???..........

I've managed to track a copy down, so now I'm just waiting until the postman arrives with it!
Thanks for all your help, I've been trying to work out what it was for years!
