Having started serious work on trills with my left hand in November, when it was a herd of heavy elephants, then a herd of erratic elephants, and then progrssed to light elephants, I was getting increasingly frustrated eek.gif . Good help from forumites ( thanks.gif ) constant encouragement from Teacher with idea.gif mornincoffee.gif thereThere.gif and FINALLY today, it all fell into place and I got it!!!! Not perfect but at least I am now feeling that all the effort was worth while.

Indeed! And I really mean that, cos there have been times when I wanted to do to the piano what Basil Fawlty once did to his car. And it feels so good to get past that. smile.gif

Apart from the knowledgeable tips to be found on this board - just keep at it!
Thanks to all for words of encouragement.

I have just read the topic, having logged on since quite some time. First of all well done.

Secondly, now that you feel so happy for yourself, why not try trilling with a combination of all the 2 fingers in each hand, or try trilling with two fingers and playing a melody with your thumb and second finger? (i.e. Liszt Lassan in Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 Bar 41)....You'll see your happiness soon vanishing...

My point is that there is almost always something to strive for of course.

Oh I know I have a long way to go and it is a journey I travel with great pleasure! Achieving the required dexterity is a very different task in the 60s than in the teens. I may never be able to do a perfect trill, or play at the speed I would like but I do want to be able to do the best I possibly can.
