Hi,
I've had my violin bow for absolutely ages (probably over 4 years) and it has never been rehaired. Its gone a bit black and the bottom near where you hold it and the hair width is quite thin now. My teacher mentioned me getting it rehaired so basically how much does this usually cost and where can i get it done? Also how long does it take?

Thanks x

Depends where you live I guess but the violin specialist shop nearest to me quoted £35 to re-hair a bow.

The other violin shop I phoned said they did a 'student' re-hair for £28 and a 'professional' rehair for £35. For just a few pounds I would have thought most people would go for a 'professional' - I suppose that means a better quality of hair? blink.gif

I live in east yorkshire, would prefer somewhere in hull or beverly but don't really mind

These people are in Beverley: http://www.chapel-allerton.org.uk/bow.html and charge £30 for a violin bow rehair.

Amazingly, it was the 3rd place that turned up on a Google of 'violin bow rehair'. I was initially looking for a place I knew that does it by mail order but then I saw 'Beverley' biggrin.gif
