I found on the internet information about the Chopin Society. You pay something like £30 a year and are able to go to free concerts, plus other benefits. It said there was a minimum of 12 concerts, which sounds good to me. Also the members play to each other at events organised by the society. Does anyone know what the society is like, in terms of are the people friendly.

Unless there is anorher Chopin society that I haven't heard of, or it has branched out into the provinces recently, then it is based in London and the concerts are in Covent Garden at weekends.

If you live in London it is probably a good deal. You'd only need to go to a couple of concerts to get your money's worth.

If you live anywhere else it is probably not much use to you.

Hi Tom. Thank you for replying. This is the Chopin Society in London. I live in London. There is a concert on today at 5.00. I might see if I can go. I wonder if there are other societies for composers in London, or even England. I know there is a Mozart society in California.

I have just come back from a recital at The Chopin Society. It was excellent, Cristina Ortiz playing Debussy and Chopin. I was sitting in a brilliant position and could see her hands and her facial expressions. The next concert is Marc-Andre Hamelin.

if Hamelins playing i would say get your ticket well in advance.

There is a Liszt Society. Don't know much about them, but a pupil of mine belongs.

Thanks for that tip, Chopinzee. I had better email the secretary now. It would be a shame to miss it, especially as I don't have to pay.
