I realised at an orchestra rehearsal last week that although my sightreading has always been pretty bad, it's got a lot worse since I stopped practising it for my grade 5! ph34r.gif So basically I need loads of stuff to sightread - can anyone recommend any collections of pieces at around grade 3 to 5?

Thanks. smile.gif

This is a good link for pieces and what grades they are:

You can try the Suzuki violin books, I love the tunes in those books! Book 2 onwards is good for grade 3 plus. My sight reading isn't too great either, I have the ABRSM sight reading book and a book called Violin Sight Reading 2, they're quite good.

How about looking on ebay or somewhere and seeing if you can get hold of some old exam books for those grades?

Although it is almost a decade old, this list of Viola Music Graded for Difficulty might be worth a look.

*waiting for lots of people to say how much they hate these books*
I have just finished Cello Time Sprinters, and played one of the pieces for g4, but they're really fun to sightread. However I don't know if Fiddle Time Sprinters is the same level. Hope this helps smile.gif
