I have a recital for a cello+piano duet coming up, it's around March or May, depends.
It is not too long of a recital, and here is what I have so far:
*INSERT SOMETHING HERE* (was thinking of Bach's Suite for Cello No. 1 in G, but I want alternatives)
Faure - Elegy
--INTERMISSION--
Schumann - Adagio and Allegro Op.70
Piazzolla - Le Grand Tango for Cello and Piano (my favorite piece for cello and piano of all time)
Possible Encores:
Saint-Saens - Le Cygne (The Swan)
I still need more suggestions here
Not sure about the program, but it IS not that long of a recital, approx 40 mins I say?
Add on the encores and maybe 50 minutes, but time is not of essence.
I will add on to the encore list (once for my piano recital I did like, 5 encores, so yea, I do love giving encores, since it's such a short recital)
Any ideas for a piece before the intermission?
Or the order of the pieces? It is yet to be confirmed.
Nothing too difficult (below the difficulty of the pieces in the list), and of sufficient length (8 min+).
Obviously programme balance is not an issue, and as you can see, the pieces I have included are showpieces.
Thanks!

How about Squire 'Tarantella', or the Squire 'Romance'. Very listenable short pieces where a few minutes need filling.
Just be careful about too many encores. People think you've finished and then you just rattle on. It would be better to fill the programme with more pieces and just keep a couple of short works for the encore. Even a top soloist wouldn't play five - it just wouldn't be professional to do that anyway.
Have you considered including another fairly substantial work in addition to the Bach, rather than lots of short pieces? I appreciate you like show pieces, but it does make a recital rather itty bitty. An audience will always enjoy hearing an entire sonata or perhaps a concerto movement and in fact, it's a far better way to demonstrate your skills too.

How about something by Popper - Concert Polonaise or Tarantella are great concert pieces
Some other favourites of mine are the third movement of Rachmaninov cello sonata, Largo by Veracini (really beautiful), Rondo by Boccherini (great fun), Serenade Espagnole by Glazunov or Allegro Appassionata by Saint Saens
Good luck for your recital

Thanks for your suggestions. I was rather looking for a programme opener, something impressive and striking a deep impression on the audience. Around 8-10 minute should be enough.
I believe that encores can come later, right now I need to set my programme first.
Some of the suggestions were great as an encore (Tarantella), but I don't think they are appropriate as in the main programme, due to length and well, I personally wouldn't find one of those pieces in a formal recital.
