I have 13 violinists at school who are all Gd 3-Gd 5 level and we have LOTS of fun.

They are Y5 and Y6 at primary school so doing VERY well! We rehearse weekly and they have orchestra separately from string group and I see them all for an individual lesson each week. Heaven.

This term we have a school Easter concert and 2 festivals to play for, all within 2 weeks at the end of term.

NOW...have you a good idea for what we might play? In 2 parts (or 3 parts) with piano accomp?

Please? party1.gif

For example, they have already played and enjoyed pieces from Jigs Reels and Hornpipes, a 2 part Pachabel which they loved, some Bosnian folk music, recently loads of Christmas songs in a busking session raising £166 for our local festival...

Help me out?

When I helped at a Christmas concert of similar aged pupils, part of what they played was an assortment of arrangements of film/television theme tunes. I'm not sure who the arrangements were by (sorry...) but they certainly went down well. The Easter concert...maybe you could use some 3/4-part hymns and adapt them a bit?

It sounds like a great group - good luck. smile.gif

Pachabel's Canon! It's fabulous for strings!

I've just played it with 3 violins, viola and piano but you could double up all the parts. Our best player was only grade 5 so you should all manage it.

Good luck finding music. party1.gif

Vivaldi's Concerto for two violins, Opus 3/8.
My daughter's teacher separates her students into two groups, each group playing a violin part, with the piano playing the string orchestra part. It is fab. You will have lots of fun!

Or even better, his concerti for 3-4 violins.

THANKS

Trouble with 3 part Pachabel is it would fill our whole 6 mins so I think we can't...

I like the Hungarian Dance no 5 duet arrangement in the Dual book so wondering about that, with Take 5 maybe too from JBR.

Will look at Vivaldi!
