I recommend that you go to your nearest music shop & have a look at what they've got.
You'll know yourself whether you like the look of a book; being a teacher already you will be able to tell if its a good book.

Also, I should think that knowing the violin will help alot, certainly with score markings and some knowledge of bowing technique.

Good luck :]

I would highly recommend 'Playing the Cello', by Hugo Cole & Anna Shuttleworth. Specifically written for adults and those who may already know a thing or two about music.

It was the book I used when I initially took up the cello while at music consevatoire.

I can't comment on cello tutor books, but I will recommend one important thing: A Teacher! Even if only for a few sessions to help you get bowing and posture right - vital! smile.gif

Phew! The amount of people who do try to go it alone is scary! Anyway, your teacher should be able to tell you which book s/he normally uses, so perhaps that could be your first stop?? smile.gif
